The founder

Hello, I'm Sean

I've worked in Business Analysis for more than fifteen years. I started out delivering complex change as an analyst and Lead Business Analyst at Royal London, Barclays and Carole Nash Insurance, then went on to lead the Analysis practice at Royal London, where I built an enterprise-wide BA framework and a Community of Practice. Most recently I've led a 15-person Business Analyst team at Bentley Motors across three Value Streams, introducing common standards, quality gates and peer review.

Along the way I've worked on data strategy, AI and product ownership, across both digital and regulatory change.

On project after project I saw the same pattern. Stakeholders and delivery teams raced towards a solution that had already been decided, without really understanding the problem, and Business Analysts were reduced to writing down requirements instead of questioning and analysing what was being asked for. That's why I started Beyond Requirements.

For me, Business Analysis is much more than gathering requirements, a phrase I'd happily never hear again. It's about solving problems, staying curious, wanting to do right by customers and making sure everyone can see the whole picture.
